International Survey Puts Desjardins In The Lead
It came as no surprise: most people surveyed - 5 to 1 - would choose California over New Jersey as their favorite vacation destination. What was a surprise, though, is that the same people would elect Desjardins for the american presidency. The candidate was in the nation's capital with her family this Monday, on a casual tourist-like journey in the City. After a ride in the 555 feet Washington Memorial elevator, the four quebecois hit it to the White House for a glimpse -they hope- at their future home:
This wasn't enough though. While Desjardin's partner, Montreal's famous lawyer Pierre Grenier, was busy entertaining French First Lady Carla Bruni - this explains his absence from the picture above - they went for a discovery of the Capital's National Geographic Explorers Hall and played Where's François in the museum store:
Before the kids could join them in DC, the couple had time to visit the Smithsonians' Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden where an avant-garde exhibition is taking place. The Cinema Effect: Realisms is the title of this everything-but-puritan exhibition, featuring video artists such as Isaac Julien, Michèle Magema, Julian Rosefeldt, Corinna Schnitt, Mungo Thomson, Kerry Tribe, Francesco Vezzoli and Artur Zmijewski. The candidate was astounded after viewing one of the works presented: «After the Jessee Jackson incident and the censorship around the n_ts issue, I didn't think I was going to hear anything close to the word, let alone see something so... how should I put it... crude?». She and her partner nevertheless appreciated the efforts of the Smithsonian Institute to bring free culture to the American People.
